The Business Times Charity Challenge 2014: Cycling for causes

SINGAPORE - For the third year running, Singapore's largest cycling event will feature a dedicated ride for a good cause - The Business Times Charity Challenge.
Part of OCBC Cycle Singapore 2014, The Business Times Charity Challenge on March 30 will raise funds and awareness for two local charities this year - Dover Park Hospice and SingHealth Transplant TRUEfund - by appealing to companies and individuals.
Companies may register teams of four, for a minimum donation pledge of S$3,810 a team, to represent them in this race. Their cyclists will start the 39km ride in a special pen and will enjoy benefits such as on-site hospitality before and after the ride, as well as fast-tracked cycle pack collection.
Alvin Tay, Editor of The Business Times, said: "The Business Times is pleased to be able to do its part to give back to the community and we would like to thank OCBC for providing a platform for us to do so. We hope companies and individuals will respond enthusiastically, as they have in the past, to support two very worthy charities."
The Dover Park Hospice provides palliative care to terminally ill patients regardless of age, race, religion or income level, and support to their families. SingHealth Transplant TRUEfund was set up in 2010 to benefit needy transplant patients, run public education campaigns for organ and tissue donation and transplants, and support transplantation research initiatives.
Individual cyclists are welcome to dedicate their rides to these causes too, at a minimum donation of S$955 a person.
Donations made to The Business Times Charity Challenge will benefit Dover Park Hospice and SingHealth Transplant TRUEfund equally.
To register, both teams and individuals may contact Ben Burrowes of race organiser Spectrum Worldwide Events at bburrowes@sww.com.sg.
The Business Times Charity Challenge is part of the sixth edition of OCBC Cycle Singapore, which will be held from March 28-30. Some 12,000 cyclists are expected to take part this year.
Apart from Dover Park Hospice and TRUEfund, the other official charities of OCBC Cycle Singapore 2014 are Singapore Children's Society and SportCares (Singapore Sports Council).
